Cookbook + Clay Club: Group Living
and other recipes
Join Lola Milholland, author of the cookbook/memoir Group Living and Other Recipes, & ceramicist Jaime Holub for a creative, hands-on Sunday afternoon at Sandy River Studio. The fire will be crackling in the studio's wood stove as we gather together. Lola will read excerpts from her book and share stories about the recipes she chose. Jaime will lead us in making a clay dish inspired by the recipes we learn about. Lola will demo a perfect, simple meal of miso soup and rice balls . And then, we'll cook and eat the meal we made together!

what we will do
Jaime will lead you through hand building techniques to achieve the your own custom dishware. This process is great for all skill levels - yes! even if you have never done pottery before. She will offer a straightforward demonstration to guide the class and also offer personalized attention through the whole session. When you are finished with your breakfast dish you will get to choose a glaze color for the finished piece. Each ceramic piece will be food safe & dishwasher safe. We are hoping that your own personal dish can help motivate more intentionality around cooking, gathering and nourishment.
Lola will lead you in a deeper discussion around her book (its ok if you have not read it yet!) and of course she will share many stories.
She then will offer a cooking demo as well as show casing and sampling some of our favorite recipes from the book. We will end our time together around the table being lead through instructions on how to make a rice balls. Each participant will get to take some home too!
